APT utilizes compression
molded near net molded shapes whenever desired order quantities are large enough to yield a positive savings for our customers. The benefits extend to repeated orders. Rapid turn around for on-time delivery, particularly for short notice orders, becomes possible since tooling is on hand and ready for production.
APT has the capability to compression mold Teflon ® PTFE, Modified PTFE & other  < Example: Solid PTFE Rod Stock a) Scrap volume created during machining is approximately 80% of material stock. b) Cost of Rod Stock is 3 to 4 times greater than the cost of molding powder. c) Cost of scrap is approximately 6 to 7 times greater than the scrap created machining a near net shape. 
Better Example: Near Net Shape
Compression Molded from PTFE powder: > a) Scrap volume created during finish machining of the near net shape is approx. 4 x Less than that created from machining solid rod stock. b) Cost of molded blank is approx.*30% of solid rod stock. c) Reduced CNC machining time reduces machine load in shop. d) Added benefit - Ability to mold part blanks from custom blended materials that are not as readily available in solid rod form.
